Origins
Intelligence production is rarely limited by how much material is available. It is limited by how much of the reasoning survives the journey from a requirement to a released report: which source was actually used, what was assumed, what was ruled out, and who accepted responsibility for putting it out.
AIC built CORTEX to keep that chain intact. Requirements, collection activity, original source material, analytical judgements, report revisions and release decisions stay linked inside one application, so an assessment can be examined against the evidence actually used long after it was written. You choose where it runs: on your own hardware, in your private cloud, or in an AIC-operated Azure environment in the UK.

CORTEX is built and delivered by an experienced team drawn from across UK National Security and Defence. That background shapes the product: terminology and workflow informed by JDP 2-00, handling levels and compartments treated as first-order requirements, authority checked on every operation, and AI assistance that runs on a pinned local model or an endpoint you have approved.
It also shapes what we claim. Connected workflows have recorded application-level verification, and operational release acceptance is completed per deployment. We state that boundary plainly rather than imply accreditation.
